Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Several prospective and retrospective have suggested that minimally invasive radical hysterectomy for early-stage cervical cancer has a poor prognosis. There are several potential reasons for the inferior oncologic outcomes in minimally invasive radical hysterectomy including the routine use of a uterine manipulator and intracorporeal colpotomy under CO2 pneumoperitoneum. However, most of the recent studies have been indirect cause analysis through comparison of survival rates. In addition, it may not be ethical to conduct another randomized clinical trial using surgical techniques with inferior oncological outcomes. Several surgical techniques presented so far, including the transvaginal closure of vaginal cuff, are difficult to apply to all patients and require complicated procedures.

In this special issue, we will present studies on the selection of an appropriate patient group for safe minimally invasive radical hysterectomy and surgical techniques to avoid poor oncological outcomes.
